In 2000 four established female obstetrician-gynecologists (Drs. Cannon, Cardone, Carpenter and Murrey) and one midwife (S. Haney) joined together to form a new women's healthcare organization. Their desire was to provide a practice capable of providing comprehensive care for females. They brought with them their diverse training, over 43 years of clinical experience, and their personal experiences as women and mothers. With these tools they were able to establish a state-of-the-art medical practice in an environment that caters to women.
In October 2004, they added a second midwife Patty Schneider. She brought with her new ideas and over 25 years of experience. She and Shari Haney have been close friends for several decades and enjoy finally being able to work together.
Throughout 2006, the embarked upon a partnership with Elizabeth Henley, PT to develop what is now Antares Center for Integrative Health. Antares opened for business in June of 2007 and is rapidly surpassing its goals to become a location for education, services and a place where healthcare providers can help each person incorporate health and wellness into their lives. In January of 2009, Dr. Susan Felber, opened her Internal Medicine practice within West Suburban Women’s Health. Locating her own medical practice within the offices of WSWH allows her patients' direct access to the multiple alternative services that are offered at WSWH and the connected offices at Antares Institute of Integrative Health. It is also convenient to West Suburban patients who need the services of an internal medicine physician.
In June of 2009, West Suburban added a third nurse midwife, Lee Eichhorn, CNM, to our staff. Lee works with the other two nurse midwives in providing care for patients both in the office setting and in the labor and delivery room at Hinsdale Hospital.
