Dr. Carla Carpenter
DO, FACOG |
Dr. Carla Carpenter grew up in the southern suburbs of Chicago. She received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Neurobiology from Northwestern University in 1985. She received her medical degree from the University of Osteopathic Medicine in Des Moines, Iowa in 1989. Her internship year was spent at St. Joseph's Hospital in Chicago. After realizing that she wanted a more vigorous training program, which emphasized high risk obstetrics and complicated gynecology, she applied for and finished her residency training at Michael Reese/University of Illinois in 1993. Because her training was at an MD university program, she is board certified by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology.
Dr. Carpenter has been in private practice in the western suburbs since completing training. Her special interests include high risk obstetrics, treatment of depression and management of perimenopausal disorders. She is an experienced surgeon who believes it is of the utmost importance to attempt to nonsurgically treat gynecologic problems before resorting to surgery. Getting to know her patients on a personal level throughout the 10 years of her practice has been the most unexpected and greatest joy of practicing medicine. She feels grateful to be in a profession that she can serve women and hopefully improve their quality of life and health.
The love of the nature a big part of Dr. Carpenter's personal life. She enjoys gardening, camping, and fly fishing among many other interests.
Dr. Carpenter lives in the western suburbs with her two sons.
