What is the Her Option®?

In Office Cryoablation for the Treatment of Heavy Periods

Her Option® Cryoablation Therapy from AMS is a treatment option for excessive menstrual bleeding (menorrhagia) that ablates endometrial tissue through subzero temperatures, using ultrasound guidance to monitor the safety and extent of treatment.

Her Option is a comfortable treatment for menorrhagia because the natural anesthesia effects of cold eliminate the need for IV sedation in most cases, and allows the patient to be treated in the comfort of the office versus scheduling and waiting for an operating room.

This procedure significantly reduces and in some women, totally eliminates bleeding. The procedure takes less than 30 minutes and is performed in the WSWH surgical suite by the physicians of West Suburban Women's Health. The patient is released to recover at home and able to resume normal activity the next day. In office cryoablation is covered by most major PPO insurance companies as well as Medicare.
